On March 27, 2025 in Katowice, Poland, our BAUREN design office had the pleasure of participating in an event organized by IDEA StatiCa as part of the Coffee & Learn series – meetings dedicated to engineers of the construction industry. The main purpose of the event was to present modern FEA computational tools for the design of steel and reinforced concrete details, as well as to exchange experiences in the practical application of IDEA StatiCa software.
BAUREN was invited to present a real-life implementation of a structural project in which the IDEA StatiCa reinforced concrete module played a key role. Our presentation was titled:
“Implementation of the overhanging zone of an office building – IDEA StatiCa reinforced concrete module”.
Using the example of a production hall with an office and service part in Stalowa Wola, we presented the process of designing the overhanging zone of an office building, with a focus on challenges, FEM analysis and verification of structural calculations. We discussed, among other things:
- Problems of designing reinforced concrete discs: from model analysis to selection of reinforcement and interpretation of results.
- Challenges of load transfer: how to ensure the stability and safety of the structure in the overhanging zone.
- Practical application of the IDEA StatiCa reinforced concrete module: how to use the software to optimize the design and verify calculations.
- Case study: the design of a reinforced concrete wall-disc supporting a storey above a drive-through in an office building with a hall in Stalowa Wola.
- Stress analysis: including a discussion of local compressive stress problems at the corner and the use of constraint control options.
